In June of 2013 I headed up to British Columbia to shoot a program on CP's Windermere Sub. On the way I had a couple of days on Montana rail Link to shoot some stills. It was 100+ in Tucson when I left, and it was about 30 in Livingston, Montana, a bit of a shock! MRL wasn't good to me, I saw little MRL power, mostly BNSF. After the MRL, I headed up to Canada to spend a little time shooting stills on the Laggan and Mountain Subs. The weather was so-so, and I actually got snowed on at Moraine Lake, so I went someplace else. Seemed to me that traffic was down on the transcon. Big trains but less of them, and all GE's. The Windermere Sub was interesting, but traffic was a bit sparse. Only a few coal trains in daylight, plus the Golden-Cranbrook local, power for that was a couple of SD40-2's, and very chaseable. I've always liked Canada, especially the Canadian Rockies, so this was a pretty good trip.
