In January, 2017 my wife and I flew to Oslo, Norway, then on to Bergen to Join a Hurtigruten cruise to the North Cape and back. Our ship was the MS Loften, a small coastal ship that carries freight and passengers up and down the Norwegian coast. We had about 80 passengers and 38 crew. After Trondheim we met with very heavy seas and strong winds (force 12) and had to turn back and return to Trondheim. We lost about 36 hours, and this was the first time out captain had ever had to turn back. Despite having worked on a ship cruising the Norwegian coast in 1972, I didn't recognize anything. We didn't see the sun from Bergen to the day before getting back to Bergen, but all in all, despite a force twelve and two force nines, an excellent experience.
