MV Ushuaia to Antartica - Part 1

In late fall, 2016, we reserved spots on a Muench Photographers Workshop trip to Antartica for December 2017. The year ambled gently by, the trip came and went, and here we are waiting for our next trip in April 2018. The trip started in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, the southernmost town in the world. We flew from Tucson to LAX, changed planes and terminals, and what a major performance that was! We had a lot of luggage, since we were spending some time in Buenos Aires, and needed clothes for hot weather, plus all our cold weather clothes. Then we had a flight to Lima, Peru, changed planes and flew to Buenos Aires. BA is a separate blog. After our time in BA, we flew to Ushuaia, where we were met by the Muench team and taken to our hotel for the night. Next morning we had a walk around town, then had lunch at the hotel until the bus came to take us to the ship.

We stopped at King George Island on the way down to Antarctica to disembark a severely injured passenger, who had fallen off the stairs in the rough seas of the Drake Passage.
