To Nairobi and Maasai Mara

  • September 2017, a David Lloyd Photographers Safari in the Maasai Mara, Kenya. We set off from Tucson with Southwest, to Los Angeles, where we spent the night. We had to be at LAX by 6-ish am to join our A321 flight to JFK, New York. We then caught a B777 to London Heathrow, where, fortunately we had plenty of time. Next was a B747 to Nairobi. We were late in to NBO, and there was only one immigration officer for e-visas, so it took a while. David had arranged transport for us to the Serena Hotel, where we arrived at 11:30pm, the day after we set off from LAX, a 10,143 mile journey. We'd booked an extra day at the hotel, since it was an early start to get to Wilson Airport for our flight to the Mara. Our extra day was spent pretty much idling around and napping, the time difference between Tucson and Nairobi is ten hours. The Serena is an excellent hotel, and our accomodations at the Entim Lodge were excellent, as was the food. The Mara was just amazing, our guide/drivers were great, and the whole thing was just an outstanding trip, one of our best!
